MARAWI CITY — In commemoration of the 5th Bangsamoro Foundation Day and as part of the Ministry’s commitment to a cleaner and greener environment, the Provincial Environment, Natural Resources and Energy Office (PENREO) of Lanao del Sur organized and conducted a ‘Fun EnviRUNment for Clean and Green Bangsamoro Competition’ as the kickoff activity for the BFD weeklong celebration. The activity still aligns with the regional theme “A journey towards mutual understanding, peaceful co-existence, and a shared future in the Bangsamoro.”

Through the leadership of PENRE Officer Asmarie M. Labao, in partnership with the Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC) headed by Chairperson Sultan Arsalan A. Diamaoden, PhD, the activity aims to commemorate the momentous inception of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as a new political entity. It also targets to encourage community mobilization towards a healthy lifestyle and to promote public awareness of waste management in the province of Lanao del Sur.

The best bit of the event was the awarding of winners who collected the most voluminous decomposition wastes. As per the record, all runners gathered an estimated total of about 100kg of waste.

Of course, PENREO Lanao del Sur did not miss the opportunity to express its appreciation to its constant partner institutions in terms of its solid waste management programs. As an act of gratitude, the provincial office donated trash bins and trash bags to Jamiatu Muslim Mindanao (JMM). The turnover symbolizes the commitment of the partner school to spreading awareness of proper solid waste management to the students.

As PENRE Officer Labao emphasized, “This event is a manifestation of our commitment to the Bangsamoro people as they march to a brighter future. Magkasama po tayong lahat sa pag abot ng Kalikasang Matatag, Enerhiyang Sapat, para sa Bangsamorong Angat at Panatag.”
