ALBARKA, Basilan — The Provincial Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy Office (PENREO) of Basilan recently took part in the BARMM Convergence Program for Basilan on January 23 in line with the weeklong celebration of the 5th Bangsamoro Foundation Day in the Municipality of Albarka, Basilan Province.

Anchoring on the theme, “A Journey Towards Mutual Understanding, Peaceful Co-existence, and a Shared Future in the Bangsamoro,” the event provided a range of services and activities to the attendees like PENREO Basilan that provided seedlings to the attendees to promote awareness in taking an active role in protecting the environment.

Additionally, the distribution of hygiene kits, food packs, gadgets, tools and equipment, and seedlings were some of the services provided. These were sponsored by the various agencies of the BARMM government, namely, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform, Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education, Ministry of Health/Provincial Health Office, RHU of Albarka Municipality, Ministry of Labor and Employment, Ministry of Human Settlements & Development, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Social Services and Development, Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism and Ministry of the Interior and Local Government/LGU of Albarka Municipality and Provincial Basilan Government.

Moreover, hundreds of people, including the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, local officials, community leaders, civil society organizations, religious groups, the women sector, the youth sector, and indigenous people, are involved.

The said event ended successfully, as it demonstrated the unity and solidarity of the people in the island provinces, as well as their commitment and participation in the development and governance of the Bangsamoro Region.
