COTABATO CITY — As a regular means to ensure that the BARMM Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) will effectively implement its banner programs, the Ministry holds its annual operational planning workshop, with this year conducted this January 15-17, and gathers representatives from the Sectoral Services, Provincial ENRE Offices, Support-to Operations Divisions, and the Executive Offices.

This 2024, the MENRE will continue the implementation of its six (6) banner programs, which are developed from its Sectoral Services. Each of the Sectoral Services and the Provincial Offices presented their plans for this year for review, comments, and enhancement if necessary.

Minister Akmad Brahim emphasized the “less talk, more work” guiding principle, urging the attendees to embody critical leadership as the environmental hand of the Bangsamoro and to ensure the continuity of moral governance.

Bangsamoro Director General Atty. Badr Salendab said that the activity aims to come up with and produce a plan for the Bangsamoro in the areas of environment, natural resources, and energy. “Let us all remember that we are being watched not just by the people but, ultimately, by Allah SWT,” BDG Atty. Salendab said.

Just last December, the Ministry’s FY 2024 budget amounting to P834,206,301 was approved by the BTA Committee on Finance and Budget and Management. Compared to the FY 2023’s budget, the approved fund for this year has an increase of about 167 million pesos.

Minister Brahim underscored during the operational planning workshop that the Ministry will ensure that the approved budget, up to its last peso, will be spent accordingly, anchored in moral and environmental governance.
