MAKATI CITY — MENRE Minister Akmad A. Brahim and Bangsamoro Director General Atty. Badr E. Salendab participated in a 3-day orientation on local governance and administration conducted for BARMM Local Chief Executives (LCEs) last 8-10 August 2022.

The orientation was organized by the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG), in coordination with the Local Government Academy (LGA)-Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to guide the newly-elected local officials towards inclusive and sustainable development in the Bangsamoro through efficient local governance and administration.

Minister Brahim answered questions raised by LCEs regarding the policies and functions of the Ministry. He also attended a solidarity dinner hosted by BARMM Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim and graced by DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos, Jr.

BDG Salendab presented the Ministry’s mandate, regular programs, and frontline services and highlighted its eight ( 8 banner programs for Natural Resources Enforcement, Conservation, and Development, Mineral Resources and Geosciences Development, Geological Risk Reduction and Resiliency, Environment Assessment and Protection, Environmental Regulations and Pollution Control, and Energy Development.

The event was attended by BARMM Ministers, Governors, City and Municipal Mayors, foreign partners and other stakeholders.

As underscored by the program, the General Orientation on Local Governance and Administration for Bangsamoro LCEs at Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City focused on developing the LCEs’ leadership and transformational capacities as aspiring strategic leaders who will lead the local governments in the BARMM to become more competitive, efficient, and responsive to the needs of the people they serve.
