DAVAO CITY – The Forest Management Services (FMS) of BARMM-MENRE, led by Director Abdul-Jalil S. Umngan, attended the Regional Coffee Industry Roadmap Formulation Workshop held at Pinnacle Hotel & Suites, Davao City on 5-9 September 2022. The event was conducted by the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism (MTIT) – BARMM, in partnership with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and facilitated by Sison Consult Plus.

MTIT has been pursuing the development and promotion of Coffee Industry as one of the major commodities being produced by the BARMM. A Regional Technical Working Group (RTWG) was created to assist the coffee industry stakeholders in the policy development, particularly the formulation of Coffee Industry Roadmap and implementation of its plan for the development of the industry.

The dream of the Bangsamoro as a coffee producer is to be competitive, aligned with global quality standards, resilient, ecologically sound and sustainable industry that is beneficial to actors across the value chain in 2027.

There are two (2) more sessions scheduled on 3-7 October and 21-25 November 2022 at the same venue to materialize the said coffee roadmap formulation that will guide the industry stakeholders.

Chief Manuel Capin and Samson Angkad from the FMS represented the Ministry to the said event.
