MENRE Minister Akmad A. Brahim, Bangsamoro Director General Atty. Badr E. Salendab, and Forest Management Services (FMS) Director Abdul-Jalil S. Umngan met with the latter’s former colleagues, Wisnu Adi Ristiawan of the Government of besiktas escort Jakarta and University Lecturer Atty. Andi Syafrani of Islamic State University Syarif Hidayatullah.

Minister Brahim and the party enlightened Ristiawan and Atty. Syafrani on the thrusts of the Ministry and highlighted the intention to reach out to the international community particularly building linkage with the neighboring countries within the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA). This includes research, Islamic financing vis-a-vis natural resources and energy investment, and environmental protection and conservation, climate change and disaster risk and reduction management.

Both Ristiawan and Atty. Syafrani are looking forward to visiting the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region so they can have firsthand information on the opportunities in the BARMM and how they can be a great partner of the Bangsamoro people.

Director Umngan knew Ristiawan and Atty. Syafrani from the international events he attended—Taiwan’s Smart City 3-week Seminar 2017 and Tshwane in South Africa Inbound Modelling 3-week Seminar 2018, and Japan’s ASEAN Rennaissance 4.0: Capacity Building for Future Leaders 2-week Training 2010.

Minister Brahim, BDG Atty. Salendab, and Director Umngan are on a weeklong official mission to Indonesia to attend the Brunei Darusalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area for the 25th BIMP-EAGA Senior Officials Meeting and other Related Meetings in Pontianak, East Kalimantan.
