DAVAO CITY — “One of the vital tasks ahead of every Bangsamoro ministry, office, and agency is the preparation of budget proposal for each fiscal year,” said MENRE Minister Akmad A. Brahim during the recently held 3-day Budget Preparation Workshop for FY 2025.

The Budget Preparation Workshop FY 2025 of the MENRE was just concluded on March 7, 2024, with the key representatives from the entire Ministry—Sectoral Services, Provincial ENRE Offices, Support-to-Operations Divisions, and Executive Offices—attending the workshop to develop their respective budget proposals for review and consolidation.

In his message, Minister Brahim acknowledged that the Bangsamoro region faces unprecedented environmental challenges and that these challenges require bold and decisive action, backed by adequate resources and strategic planning.

“Every peso allocated must be carefully considered and directed towards initiatives that yield tangible results and make a meaningful difference in safeguarding our environment, natural resources, and energy sources,” the Minister said.

As the Ministry lays the groundwork for the 2025 budget blueprint, Bangsamoro Director General Atty. Badr E. Salendab also emphasized to the participants that “we have to focus and step up as we’re not only accountable to the public but also to Allah SWT.”

While the Technical Budget Hearing is just around the corner, Administrative and Finance Services Director Al-Sharif M. Tamburani reminded the budget proponents to always go back to the core mandate and jurisdiction of the MENRE.

The Ministry of Finance, and Budget and Management issued the Bangsamoro Budget Call for FY 2025 on January 31, 2024, with the goal of sustaining the Bangsamoro Government’s gains. This budget preparation of the Ministry would ensure that the programs, projects, and activities proposed, particularly on environment, natural resources, and energy, align with the approved Bangsamoro Development Plan 2023-2028, containing the 6 Overall Development Goals and the Chief Minister’s 8 Development Strategies.
