COTABATO CITY — Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the Bangsamoro Women Commission and the entire nation in promoting gender equity and equality in the Bangsamoro region, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy joins the kick-off ceremony of the National Women’s Month with a theme, “WE for Gender Equity and Inclusive Society: Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas, Kakayahan ng Kababaihan Patutunayan,” at SKCC, BARMM Complex, BGC, Cotabato City on March 8.

Wearing their purple shirts, employees from MENRE together with other ministries, offices, and agencies in BARMM marched the stretch of Governor Gutierrez Avenue to the SKCC, Bangsamoro Government Center, marking the beginning of the month-long celebration of gender equality and women’s empowerment in the Bangsamoro region.

“The notable increase in the 2022 GAD fund utilization of the Bangsamoro Government is a manifestation of our commitment to promoting gender equity, and women empowerment in the Bangsamoro. Ensuring that our plans and budgets are gender-responsive, we can create a more equitable and empowering environment for every Bangsamoro,” said Bangsamoro Women Commission Chairperson, Hadja Bainon G. Karon in her speech.

The MENRE recognizes the vital role of women in environmental conservation—that is, to achieve sustainable development, it requires dismantling barriers that limit women’s opportunities. The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to fostering an inclusive environment, and empowerment of all individuals.
