COTABATO CITY – To deliberate on crucial matters related to infrastructure development in the energy sector, the Energy Management and Development Services (EMDS) of the BARMM Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE), as Chairman, led the 2nd Regular Meeting of the Energy Infrastructure Development Sub-Committee (EIDSC) on November 16, 2023 at Villa Miranda, Cotabato City.

EMDS Director Nasiri B. Abas, representing MENRE, actively participated in discussions on a range of topics, including the BARMM Power Development Roadmap 2023-2040, the potential for renewable energy in BARMM, and the electrification program funded nationally as outlined in the Public Investment Program (PIP) 2023-2028 by Department of Energy.

The EIDSC plays a pivotal role in promoting collaboration, sharing of information, and strategic planning in the energy sector. This Subcommittee, with member ministries including MPW, MILG, MOTC, MAFAR, MHSD, MIPA, MOST, and BPDA, will coordinate the formulation and implementation of policies, plans, programs, and projects related to the exploration, development, and utilization of energy resources, as well as other investment initiatives for energy infrastructure development in BARMM.

Moreover, the EIDSC Regular Meeting will provide valuable insights that will shape MENRE’s strategies and initiatives, contributing to the development of a more sustainable, resilient, and efficient energy infrastructure. The ministry is also looking forward to constant collaboration with key stakeholders and experts from the various ministries on convergence projects.

The 1st Energy Infrastructure Development Sub-Committee Regular Meeting was held last December 9, 2021, in Cotabato City.
