COTABATO CITY — As part of the ongoing celebration of the 5th Bangsamoro Foundation Anniversary, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) led the ceremonial turnover of trash bins, land titles, and seedlings to the selected and qualified beneficiaries on January 22, at the Bangsamoro Government Center, OCM grounds, Cotabato City.

One of Minister Akmad A. Brahim’s advocacies is to address the pressing issue regarding solid waste in the City and increase the awareness of Bangsamoro about the importance of maintaining cleanliness in our environment. Anent this, every barangay in Cotabato City will be awarded three (3) trash bins each. During today’s event, three of the trash bins were already ceremonially turned over to the Barangay LGU.

“It has always been my advocacy to promote collective environmental action. Since the environment we live in is a blessing from the Allah SWT that we all have in common, it is our moral and social responsibility to protect and nurture our planet,” Minister Brahim expressed.

Further, twenty (20) qualified beneficiaries will receive land titles along with five (5) seedlings for each beneficiary. Two (2) of the land titles were ceremonially turned over to the beneficiaries during the activity.

“It has been five years of transition, capacity building, moral governance, and for the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy, environmental governance as well. For five years, we have been protecting the Bangsamoro’s right to a cleaner and greener environment, and we are even more dedicated to spending more years doing the same and even better,” said Minister Brahim.

This set of activities is part of the MENRE’s efforts to efficiently manage and administer land-related concerns and matters, promote and implement the greening of our region, and ensure proper solid waste management. At the same event, the Turnover of Covered Court from the Support to Moral Local Governance (SMLG) to MENRE/BARMM Tennis Club was also held.

Joining Minister Brahim were Assistant Senior Minister Abdullah Cusain, SLMG Project Manager Engr. Mohammad Nur Abdulgani Macabangen, MENRE BDG Atty. Badr E. Salendab, LMS Director Eshan Karl O. Mabang, FMS Director Abdul-Jalil S. Umngan, EMDS Director Nasiri B. Abas, and AFS Director Al-Sharif M. Tamburani.

The 5th founding anniversary will be a weeklong celebration bearing the theme “A journey towards mutual understanding, peaceful co-existence, and a shared future in the Bangsamoro region.” MENRE will continue to uphold this year’s BFD theme and continue to protect the Bangsamoro’s right to a cleaner and greener environment.
