DAVAO CITY — Guided by the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) – BARMM’s vision “Tungo sa Kalikasang Matatag, Para sa Bangsamorong Panatag”, the Energy Management and Development Services (EMDS) held its Annual Energy Report and Consolidation of Data last December 20-24 2021 at Dusit Thani Hotels and Resort, Davao City.

The EMDS seeks to mainstream access of the Bangsamoro to reliable and affordable energy services and promote secure and sufficient energy to all Bangsamoro economic sectors. In pursuit of this goal, the Ministry is bent on further exploring the region’s energy resources by consolidating all the energy data forecasted and gathered during this year 2021.

The concern of energy access and supply, volatility of oil prices in the region, and adverse effect of energy uses to the environment are primary reasons why there is a need to strengthen the development and utilization of potential energy resources in the BARMM.

The compilation and collection of data available on electric power industry, oil and gas industry and renewable energy industry in the region facilitate measure of future energy projects and infrastructure the BARMM needs and will reflect in the formulation of the Bangsamoro Energy Development Plan.
