GENERAL SANTOS CITY—Thirty (30) staff from the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) – BARMM participated in a Technical Writing, Multimedia Handling and Reports Consolidation Workshop organized by the Ministry’s Forest Management Services (FMS).

“A pen is mightier than a sword. For us to be more competitive in our profession, we need to sharpen our pens and try to push our limits şişli escort until we discover our potentials,” said FMS Director Abdul-Jalil S. Umngan.

The workshop instilled in the participants, composed of foresters and professionals from the seven Sectoral Services of MENRE, the importance of technical writing, its effectiveness, and skills in writing valuable and purposive technical documents—from creating usual correspondences (i.e., e-mails,letters, memos) to highly specialized organizational documents (i.e., press releases, proposals, policies, guidelines, manuals). This venue also introduced the concept of communication for development, which is a way to amplify voice, facilitate meaningful participation, and foster social change. Discussed topics and performed exercises were rooted in the Basics of Technical Writing, Communications for Development, and Social Media Marketing.

Resource persons Sarah Matalam-Alvarez, Communications Manager of Plan International, USA and Salembai A. Abdullah, Head of the Information and Communications Section of the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD-BARMM) graced the two-day activity held on 15-16 June 2022 in General Santos City.
