The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy – BARMM joins other nations in the week-long celebration of World Wetlands which commenced yesterday, February 2, 2021.

Annually, on February 2, also the same day when the Ramsar Convention or The Convention on Wetlands of International Importance was adopted, the world celebrates the significant role our wetlands play in the sustainable development of our environment.

By virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 74, the second day of February is also declared by the Philippine government in 1999 as “National Wetlands Day”.

We invite the public to join us in our celebration with the theme, “Wetlands and Water”, a tagline that would put the limelight on the wetlands’ contribution to maintaining the quantity and quality of our freshwater bodies, and promote the awareness and actions for the protection and proper utilization of our wetlands.
