SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao — In a series of site inspection and validation activities of the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) – BARMM to further strengthen the implementation of national environmental laws, the Ministry through the Environment Management Services (EMS) paid a visit to Lamsan Inc. on 23 March 2021 to inspect and validate the company’s establishment and operations if they abide by such rules and regulations.


Lamsan Inc. is a corn wet milling company located at Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao. Its products include cornstarch, corn gluten feed, corn gluten meal and corn germ.


The MENRE-EMS conducted the site validation based on the data reflected in Lamsan’s Quarterly Self Monitoring Report. In the document, all of their operations which impact the environment are stated and where compliance with existing environmental laws are monitored.


These environmental laws include RA 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000), RA 9275 (Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004), RA 8749 (Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999), RA 6969 (Toxic Substances, Hazardous and Nuclear Waste Control Act of 1990) and PD 1586 (Environmental Impact Statement System of 1978).


A meeting between MENRE and Lamsan, Inc. was convened to inform the latter about the result of the assessment, and to determine what kind of technical assistance and intervention the Ministry can provide to improve the current capacity of milling company in complying with the aforementioned environmental laws.
