MARAWI CITY — The Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) conducted on 4 November 2021 an Orientation on Quarry Operations in Lanao del Sur, which aims to educate mining owners and operators about mining implementing rules and regulations.

The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE), through Provincial ENRE Officer of Lanao del Sur Asmarie Labao, discussed the importance of responsible mining amid the challenges brought by climate change.

The orientation in Provincial Social Hall, Capitol Complex in Marawi City was attended by mining owners in Lanao del Sur, Provincial LGU officials, Municipal ENR Officers, and representatives from the PENRE Office.

MENRE Mines and Geosciences Director Raphael Remo provided a report on the mandatory function of the PMRB, while Environment Management Services Director Jalani Pamlian discussed the process of Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) application.

Board Member Atty. Allan Panolong and Assistant Provincial Treasurer for Operation Maria Fe Alonto gave an orientation on Environment Code and Small-Scale Mining Ordinance and the approved corresponding payments in granting mining permits, respectively.

The PRMB meeting was spearheaded and supported by the Provincial Government headed by Hon. Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong Jr. being the Vice-Chair of the board.

Last 9 September 2021, a roundtable discussion was organized between the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) – BARMM and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 10 to begin operationalizing the newly created PMRB.
