LANTAWAN, BASILAN (February 10, 2021) — The Provincial ENRE Office of Basilan spearheads the simultaneous clean-up drive and tree planting activities of all the Local Government Units in the province from the barangay level to the municipal level.


“Everyone will engage in the clean-up drive and greening activities. If the barangays won’t be able to participate in the tree planting, they will conduct a clean-up drive in their respective communities,” Marietta Ladjiman, PENRE Officer of Basilan, said before the event.


In some of the photos, barangay officials and residents of Brgy. Switch Yakal, Lantawan were successful in planting 200 pieces of Basilan Yakal (Shorea basilanica) in the early morning of February 10, with their activity simultaneously being conducted with the greening activities of other Basilan municipalities.


Two days ago, February 8, 2021, PENREO Basilan, assisted by the 101st Brigade, distributed 1,100 narra seedlings, 86 mahogany seedlings and 2,000 mangrove propagules, amongst other species handed over to the LGUs in preparation for the province-wide environmental activity today.
