COTABATO CITY — The Fiscal Year 2022 proposed budget for the program implementation of the protection, conservation, exploration and management of the Bangsamoro’s environment, natural and energy resources is defended by the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) – BARMM to the Sub-Committee E of the Committee on Finance, Budget and Management, Bangsamoro Transition Authority on Thursday, 2 December 2021, at MAFAR Conference Room.

“As the Bangsamoro Government and the MENRE undergo transition, it’s essential that we build up continuing environmental programs and projects for the eventual sustainable development of our environment and our region as a whole,” BARMM Senior Minister and MENRE Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua relayed in preparation for the budget hearing.

MENRE Deputy Minister Akmad Brahim added that “to realize our vision by 2025, we are eager to achieve it by proposing programs in support of BARMM’s better land administration and management, greening the region, development of an energy plan, more efficient permitting and licensing, geological risk reduction, and protected area management.”

Members of the Sub-Committee E on Finance, Budget and Management are composed of Chairperson MP Mohammad Yacob, Vice-Chairperson MP Nabil Tan, and members of the Sub-Com MP Baintan Adil Ampatuan, and MP Jamel Macaraya.

The MENRE expenditure was presented by its budget defense team consisted of Deputy Minister Akmad Brahim, Chief of Staff Alindatu K. Pagayao, Director Al-Sharif Tamburani, Chief of Planning Jessie S. Ondoy, Chief Accountant Jawhara K. Ali, and other Sectoral Service Directors and Division Chiefs.

With its budget for F.Y. 2022, MENRE commits to implement programs, activities, and projects that are responsive to the right of the Bangsamoro people to have a clean, safe, climate-smart, and healthy environment.
