COTABATO CITY — The head of MENRE’s GAD Focal Point System-Technical Working Group (GFPS-TWG) and Director of Admin and Finance Services (AFS), Director Al-Sharif M. Tamburani discussed the implementation of the Gender and Development (GAD) Program in the Ministry during the GAD Kwentuhan, conducted by the Bangsamoro Women Commission as part of the women’s month-long celebration, March 10 at Radyo Bandera, Cotabato City.

In his interview, when asked about the good practices of MENRE in implementing GAD, Director Tamburani stated that the Ministry is breaking gender stereotypes and boundaries, especially in the recruitment process. In fact, in the AFS, seven (7) skilled and experienced section heads hired are women. More so, MENRE also ensures that the Ministry is promoting gender equality and is not depriving women of participation in the ministry.

“We are giving equal opportunity, not only to men, but we believe that women should also be given equal opportunity and treated equally,” Director Tamburani said.

MENRE continues to strive to ensure that programs and activities to promote women’s empowerment and inclusivity are implemented. In addition, the MENRE aims to move to a more inclusive society and women are given equal opportunity.

In this month-long celebration of National Women’s Month, the MENRE shows its support through its participation in the kick-off ceremony of the NWM through a motorcade and by conducting tree planting activities on March 9 in support of “Serbisyo para kay Fatima”, a series of activities organized to urge the participation of women and women’s rights advocates in various celebratory undertakings.
