DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao — On 14 November 2022, Kusiong Elementary School, one of the five active evacuation centers in the Municipality of Datu Odin Sinsuat, was visited by select employees of the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) – BARMM to donate one hundred and twenty (120) water istanbul escort containers with food packs to the survivors of the Severe Tropical Storm (STS) Paeng that hit the region on 27 October 2022.

The donations were contributed by MENRE employees following BARMM Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim’s direction that all ministries and office of BARMM are urged to aid in the response and relief operations.

BARMM, although it was not directly along the path of STS Paeng, recorded 62 confirmed deaths and 13 missing, all due to flooding and landslides, per Situation Report No. 24 of the Bangsamoro READI Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as of 15 November 2022. STS Paeng caused damages to infrastructures, agriculture, livelihood, and the access to basic services.

Survivors having refuge in the Kusiong Elementary School were mostly from the foot of Mt. Minandar, the most affected area in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, during the onslaught of STS Paeng.
