WAO, Lanao del Sur — The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) – BARMM, through the Environment Management Services (EMS), discussed with Wao Municipal Mayor Elvino Balicao Jr. the inclusion of the Ministry in the signed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Adopt-an-Estero Program between Wao Development Corporation (WDC) and the sixteen (16) barangays of the said municipality.

EMS Director Jalani Pamlian suggests that the Mayor “should include the MENRE in the signed MOA because the Adopt-an-Estero Program is a main program of the EMS.”

“It is a part of our mandate to monitor all water bodies in the BARMM, and we want to be a part of this noble initiative of Wao Development Corporation,” Director Pamlian said.

Community ENRE Officer of Lanao del Sur 1st District, Asnawi Dataman, led the handover of the token to WDC from the Environment Ministry.

The WDC was considered by the EMS as one of the companies in the BARMM that fully comply with environmental laws.

The MENRE urges participation of all sectors in the improvement of BARMM waterbodies and waterways. The Ministry envisions multi-sectoral collaboration in the development of the Bangsamoro rivers through regular and aggressive clean-up activities participated by public and private sectors.
