On 8 November 2022 in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) – BARMM paid a courtesy visit to Tawi-Tawi Provincial Government Office for ASEAN ENMAPS.

The said visit was led by PENRE Officer Jonel I. Mohammad Monel and BERDS Director Mohammad Ali B. Dimaren, together with CENRE Officer of District-I For. Saido U. Espiliro.

The meeting carried on with a presentation of the Project Preparation Grant (PPG) Phase: Effectively Managing Networks of Marine beylikduzu escort Protected Areas in Large Marine Ecosystems in the ASEAN Region (ASEAN ENMAPS), a project proposal for Turtle Island Wildlife Sanctuary (TIWS), Tawi-Tawi.

Among the attendees were UNDP PPG Team and DENR BMB headed by Marine Biodiversity Specialist Moonyean Alava along with the Program Associate, Climate Action Program team, UNDP, National Project Management Support, Philippines, Alyssa Carreon, and some PAMB members from the municipality of Turtle Islands led by its Local Chief Executive Hon. Mohammad Faizal Jamalul.

The said project, ASEAN ENMAPS, aims to develop and improve the management of networks of marine protected areas and marine corridors within selected Large Marine Ecosystems (LMEs) in the ASEAN Region for the conservation of globally significant biodiversity and support for sustainable fisheries and other ecosystem goods and services.

Prior to that, a one-day workshop in line with the said project was graced at Crowne Plaza, Ortigas Center in Quezon City last July 13.
