MIDSAYAP, Cotabato — The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) – BARMM, through the Environment Management Services (EMS) Director Jalani M. Pamlian paid a courtesy call to Board Member Mohammad Kelie Antao, Special Geographic Area (SGA) Administrator of 63 Barangays of Cotabato Province, in the Development Coordinating Office in Midsayap on 21 September 2021.

The meeting was held to discuss the mandates of the Environment Management Services and how the Ministry will implement Republic Act 9003 or the “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000” in the 63 barangays.

MILG Director Zaiton Abbas is also present during the meeting and underscored that these barangays should be given special attention due to its unique setup.

The profile of the 63 barangays was requested by EMS Director Jalani Pamlian in order to formulate strategies, but SGA Administrator Antao said that the data is still being consolidated.

Chief EMS Amier Ashan K. Aplal suggested to conduct a MOA with the said barangays and to create an ad hoc committee to facilitate clients that are operating within the area.

Following a fruitful discussion, the team decided to hold another meeting to further discuss the process flow of securing permits to clients within the special geographic areas.
