COTABATO CITY — Showing commitment to women’s empowerment, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE), through its Maguindanao Provincial ENRE Office (PENREO) attended and participated in the 5th State of the Bangsamoro Women Address organized by the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC) with a theme “United for a VAW-free Bangsamoro” on November 28 at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.

The event aimed to raise awareness about violence against women, promote gender equality and contribute to the success of the 18-day campaign to end VAW. Several speakers shared their thoughts and experiences, which fostered a greater understanding of women’s rights. The enriching discussion empowered attendees to support gender equality.

BARMM Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim emphasized in his message through a video presentation, “We will actively involve women as partners to maintain the impact of the peace process and our ongoing efforts for sustained development.”

Participants from other BARMM ministries, offices, and agencies also attended the program. Wearing their prescribed orange attire, representatives from MENRE were spearheaded by GAD Focal Person Administrative Officer III Asma G. Abo from PENREO Maguindanao, supported by PENRE Officer Lauban S. Abdul, and other participants from CENREO.

This nationwide 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women is observed annually from November 25 to December 12, as established by Republic Act 10398.

The event was enriched with mesmerizing cultural dances and spoken poetry and concluded with an award ceremony and a photo session to capture memorable moments.

The MENRE remains steadfast in its pursuit of eradicating violence against women and pledges to continue advocating for women’s rights and supporting the campaign against VAW.
