COTABATO CITY – Eight Foresters from the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) – BARMM served as Resource Speakers in the conducted Community-Based Participatory Planning (CBPP) last 13-15 September 2022.

The UN World Food Programme (WFP) supported the event as part of their capacity strengthening initiatives in BARMM. The CBPP was co-facilitated by MAFAR-BARMM’s Municipal MAFAR Officers (MMOs) and staff from the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) for the partner local government units of Talayan and Datu Abdullah Sangki, Maguindanao.

Participants in the event were Provincial Agriculture Office’s technical staff, Municipal Administrator, Planning Officers, Engineers, Environment Officers and other personnel from the said LGUs.

CBPP is a community exercise aimed at addressing real community problems and assisting them to find solutions. Through CBPP, communities are placed in the driver’s seat of planning to improve food security and contributing to their own resilience building efforts and development.

During the same week, the Convergence Area Development Planning (CADP) using the CBPP tool is also conducted in Barangay Sawir, Masiu, Lanao del Sur. Series of CBPP/CADP workshops is targeted until year 2024 for 26 LGUs (4 completed) in Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur provinces.

This Convergence activity forms part in the expanded ‘Kayod Ka, Bangsamoro’ project of the MENRE – Forest Management Services headed by Director Abdul-Jalil S. Umngan.
