PALAWAN — As part of MENRE Environment Management Services’ (EMS) aim to continuously improve its program implementation and services to the Bangsamoro, the team led by EMS Director Jalani M. Pamlian underwent benchmarking activity at Palawan, which Pamlian considers a “model in environmental conservation and law enforcement.”

The EMS takes advantage of this activity to assess and compare performance between environmental offices to create new methods and improve current management and implementation processes.

“We see Palawan as a model when it comes to the enforcement, protection, and preservation of the environment. Kaya sabi ko, we should go to Palawan and benchmark with Palawan Council for Sustainable Development and Palawan government,” Pamlian told Palawan News.

Another benchmarking activity was conducted by EMS with Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation. Covered in the visit were Rio Tuba’s mining’s best practices in mining development, environmental protection and enhancements, safety and health and community development.

Moreover, Pamlian, together with his team, initiated courtesy visits to the Provincial Capitol of Palawan, PG-ENR Office, and LGUs including in Puerto Princesa, El Nido, and Bataraza.

Overall, the EMS and partners from Palawan engaged in topics such as sustainable development, the implementation of the Environmentally Critical Areas Network (ECAN), natural gas, the significance of the province’s unique Strategic Environmental Plan (SEP) Law, and responsible mining practices in Palawan.
