DAVAO CITY — The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) – BARMM, through the Energy Management and Development Services (EMDS) and with the Department of Energy (DOE), conducted on 6-8 February 2023 a joint visit and evaluation of different hydroelectric power plants and potential sources within Davao City.
The assessment aimed to include flow rate measurement, monitoring, and analysis for future micro and mini hydropower electric plants in the area. The team inspected the Panigan River in Brgy. Tambobong, Baguio District, Davao City, and visited the 2.4 MW Apo Agua Infrastructures Inc. Project and the Hedcor Inc. Talomo I, 2, 2B, and 3 hydroelectric power plants owned by Aboitiz Power.
This activity is set up to be taken in the EMDS program of the MENRE to assess all the untapped renewable energy resources and to maximize the potential of the region in terms of power generation investment to meet the ever-growing demand for electricity.
The MENRE-EMDS was represented by Engr. Eduardo Longakit, Engr. Zurhaidin Engga and Datu Shariff Pagayao. They were accompanied by Winifredo Malabanan, Rolando J. Faraon, Raymond Samson, Mac Jayson Diaz, Rolando J. Fara-on of the DOE.
This program is a part of EMDS-technical MENRE’s capacity development for technical employees and engineers, in conjunction with DOE’s Central Office and Mindanao Field Office, focusing on Hydroelectric Power and Renewable Energy.
