The Biodiversity, Ecosystems, Research and Development Services (BERDS) of the MENRE-BARMM, tasked to strengthen wildlife, manage Protected Areas in the BARMM, and collect data essential to biodiversity conservation, underwent benchmarking at Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center, Bago Bantay, Quezon City last 30 November to 4 December 2022 together with the Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Central Office.

BERDS Director Mohamad Ali R. Dimaren shared to BMB OIC-Director Natividad Bernardino his vision to promote and strengthen biodiversity protection and conservation in the Bangsamoro region, especially that several fauna and flora species are threatened by habitat loss due to different manmade and natural causes.

The BERDS hopes to partner with the DENR-BMB when it comes to capacitating further the employees of the Bangsamoro Ministry particularly on the development of Protected Area Development and Management on NIPAS priorities, Cave Management Protection and Conservation program, National Inland Wetlands Conservation Program, Wildlife Protection and Conservation Program, and the Coastal and Marine Ecosystems Management Program, all aligned with the principles of the Philippine Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan 2015-2028.
