COTABATO CITY – The ‘Kayud Ka Bangsamoro’ (KKB), a survival garden component of the Integrated Bangsamoro Greening Program (IBGP) and the first Food Security Convergence Model Program of the Bangsamoro Government under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE) underwent a 3-day implementation review for the Province of Maguindanao on 5-7 April 2021.
The event sought to draw good practices and identify challenges and lessons learned from the Convergence’s accomplishments since it was established. These will provide knowledge-based information on the possible scaling up of targets for the year 2022.
Participants include the MLGU and BLGU, particularly in Tamar, Talayan; Labungan, Datu Odin Sinsuat; Nekitan, Sultan Kudarat; Dasawao, Shariff Saydona Mustapha; and Madalum, Barira.
“This Program Implementation Review brings together the leader and officials who continue to fulfill the vision of the Bangsamoro Food Security Convergence,” BARMM Senior Minister and MENRE Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua said as delivered by Assistant Regional Secretary Alindatu K. Pagayao.
“The strategies that we have done and pursued to date remain valid. But there may be much more that we can do,” the Minister added.
The highlight of the activity was the different accomplishments and practices of the people’s organizations (POs) who served as partner implementers in convergence and to share their respective strategic plans during the implementation.
“The KKB convergence provides a platform for our community of Bangsamoro and IPs to established trust, confidence, and unity among one another. We have started to build social fabric through this project,” Abdulbasir Calim, Panginam o Bangsamoro PO Chairman in Labungan, Datu Odin Sinsuat.
“Through IBGP and KKB implementation, the essence of the moral governance of the BARMM is being felt on the ground,” said Amiroden Casim, Barangay Chairman of Nabalawag in the Municipality of Barira.
Director Abdul-Jalil S. Umngan of MENRE Forest Management Services reiterated that this KKB BARMM Convergence is an expression and exercise of our right to self-determination and implementation on the ground of the peace agreement.
Other attendees from MENRE include Chief Faisal U. Akmad, Forester Moamar Macadato, Chief Jessie S. Ondoy, Engr. Johanna Mikunug, and foresters from PENREO Maguindanao.
The expanded ‘Kayud ka, Bangsamoro’ project is a convergence of MENRE, MAFAR, MILG, BPDA, and WFP, where the ENR Ministry leads through their IBGP as its entry point. The convergence model supports the facilitation of socio-economic reintegration and assimilation of soon-to-be-decommissioned MILF-BIAF combatants to the government mainstream.
