COTABATO CITY — Key officials from the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy – BARMM participated in a Strategic Planning Workshop and Management Conference held on January 19-22, 2021 at AlNor Convention Hall to establish a set of goals for the Ministry as well as a roadmap or framework for achieving these targets.

Guided by the leadership of BARMM Executive Secretary and MENRE Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua, the Assistant Regional Secretary Alindatu K. Pagayao, Provincial ENRE Officers of the five provinces, Directors of the Ministry’s Sectoral Services, Division and Section Chiefs underwent thought-provoking work sessions during the 4-day strategic planning process.

“My sincere appreciation to the officials and employees of MENRE whom I know will continually provide critical leadership during this activity, ensuring the continuity of moral governance and our actions in addressing environmental issues such as climate change,” Minister Macacua said.

Facilitated by the Development Academy of the Bangsamoro and organized by MENRE employees, particularly the Planning Division and the Administrative and Support Services, the Strategic Planning is expected to provide a framework to ensure the strongest future direction of MENRE and to serve as an important guide to aid the Ministry succeed in the face of challenges and find opportunities for strengthening its institutional capacity and supporting innovation.

The Ministry was able to converse and brainstorm on discussions such as on moral governance; organizational, structural and functional interrelationships; performance indicators; and the assessment of the Ministry’s services, mandates and deliverables.

The Strategic Planning Workshop is held every three years, while the Management Conference is conducted semi-annually. Common elements articulated during the above-mentioned activity include MENRE’s vision, core values, goals and objectives, and action plans. From there, MENRE shall set out the tasks, the milestones, and the steps needed to drive the Ministry forward for the coming years.
