COTABATO CITY — The Energy Management and Development Services (EMDS) and the Environment Management Services (EMS) of the MENRE participated in an Online Orientation on Downstream Natural Gas Industry (DNGI) facilitated by the Department of Energy (DOE) last 19-20, 26-27 April 2022 as part of the capacity development for concerned MENRE officials regarding the said subject of activity.

“We in the BARMM are very new in this energy industry, and this chance of working with you will bring us enlightenment and awareness of the future endeavor pertaining to this, and we are looking forward to this collaboration,” EMDS Director Nasiri B. Abas said.

Among the topics discussed were the fundamentals of Natural Gas, Liquified Natural Gas, overview and updates regarding the Philippines Downstream Natural Gas Industry and the Philippines Downstream Natural Gas Regulation, Permit Application Guidelines and Procedures for Legal, Technical, and Financial matters. A series of orientations by the DILG-Bureau of Fire Protection, DOLE-Bureau of Working Conditions, Maritime Industry Authority, and Batangas City Health Office was also provided to the participants.

Additionally, DENR Environmental Management Bureau enlightened the MENRE representatives about the primary purpose of the EIA compliance monitoring process, which covered the last part of the 4-day discussions.

“I would like to commend and thank everyone for completing and successfully joining this online orientation. This is not an end but a beginning of a deeper relationship between us. We are looking forward to having more orientations regarding oil and gas industry,” Asst. Director Rodela I. Romero of the Oil Industry Management Bureau concluded.

Joining the online orientation were representatives from the BARMM Ministries of the Interior and Local Government, Labor and Employment, and Transportation and Communication.
