COTABATO CITY (August 22, 2019) – BARMM-MENRE holds its first ever Energy Forum in the Bangsamoro to further the planning processes on the region’s energy security starting from its conceptualization to its efficient implementation.

Bearing the theme “Strengthening Opportunities for the Bangsamoro Energy Sector as Catalyst for Regional Development,” the program stresses the mandates and strategic directions of MENRE’s Office on Energy.

Abdulraof A. Macacua, the Minister of MENRE, highlights in the forum the significance of moral governance in running the offices in the Bangsamoro.

“Starting with moral governance, we’d like to emphasize the goal of achieving sustainable development in the Bangsamoro region,” Macacua said in his opening remarks.

“It will be a great challenge, but in Allah’s will, we will prosper because of all of our efforts and the efforts of our stakeholders,” he added.

Dr. Norodin Salam, the Deputy Minister of the Interim Office on Energy, mentioned that the Bangsamoro Energy Forum serves as a stepping stone of the Ministry as it plans to conduct an Energy Summit ideally before the year 2019 ends.

The forum which also comes with a planning workshop was graced by Grand Mufti Abu Hurairah Udasan, the Regional Darul Ifta of BARMM, who accented that as far as moral governance is concerned, there should be “a balance between the morality and ethical side, and our leadership skills” in order to foster a successful and sustainable development in BARMM.

The 1st Bangsamoro Energy Forum and Planning Workshop commenced today, August 22, 2019 and will be held for two consecutive days at Em Manor Convention Center, anticipating presentations and significant inputs from BARMM energy stakeholders.
